Peer Connections Program Director

Lanita L. Mims joined Mental Health Connection Inc., in January 2024 as the Program Director for The Peer Connection Centers.  Lanita has over 28 years of working with community based organizations based in California to enhance the lives of children, teens, adults, and older adults in the mental health, re-entry and social service sectors. Lanita is passionate and dedicated to helping people learn to navigate the mental health & behavioral health systems. She works tirelessly to create positive change and foster supportive environments for the community. Beyond her advocacy work, Lanita sits as a commissioner for the Contra Costa County Womens' Commission, a member of the National Association of Black Women Executives in Music & Entertainment, and a member over 20 years of Business Women in California. Lanita finds joy and relaxation in her favorite hobbies which are camping and swimming. She is an avid reader and loves building and creating program training curricula of all sorts. She enjoys expanding her knowledge and perspective through literature
